Attend Iowa Teacher and Principal Leadership Symposium

May 21, 2012

Figuring out how to better utilize the talents of Iowa teachers to provide instructional leadership, in collaboration with principals, is the purpose of the August 3 Iowa Teacher and Principal Symposium at Drake University.

We expect youngsters to graduate from high school with a higher level of knowledge and skills than ever before, so they can eventually land jobs that pay well in an intensely competitive, global economy.

That means principals alone can’t provide all the leadership needed inside schools to continually improve learning and raise achievement for all children.  There isn’t enough time in the day for one person to do all the work involved, from setting academic goals to analyzing data to observing teachers.

Please consider attending the all-day symposium. It is open to the public, and we hope a broad cross section of Iowans will attend, from educators to business leaders to legislators. Registration is $30.

We have a great line-up of speakers and panelists, including presentations from four different approaches to expanding teacher leadership.

This is an important conversation, and we many Iowans will take part in it.
