Congratulations Saydel High School!
March 11, 2014
Congratulations to Saydel High School for winning the TAP School of Promise Award earlier this month for its work adopting the TAP System for Teacher and Student Advancement.
TAP utilizes the expertise of teacher leaders to improve instructional practice and raise student achievement. Clear academic goals for students, tested teaching strategies and significant time for collaboration among colleagues to focus on continuous improvement are among hallmarks of the system. The Saydel school district in rural Des Moines received a federal grant to implement TAP this school year.
With 39 school districts around the state recently selected to adopt teacher leadership systems next school year, under Iowa’s landmark 2013 education reform bill, Saydel’s progress will be carefully watched.
